Oliver Hörnle
Lead of Agri-PV Working Group, Fraunhofer ISE
Oliver Hörnle joined the Agrivoltaics Group at Fraunhofer ISE in 2021 as a project manager. He holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Systems Engineering from the University of Freiburg, alongside a foundation in biological sciences. Oliver leads the project “Model Region Agrivoltaics Baden-Württemberg,” where he coordinates an interdisciplinary consortium that has developed, implemented, and researched over 20 agrivoltaic systems in Southwest Germany. Through this initiative, he has gained profound insights into the synergies between fruit cultivation and PV systems. The project has significantly contributed to increasing recognition and acceptance of agrivoltaics in Germany, as it covers almost all application of agrivoltaics, including grasslands, forestry, arable crops and animal husbandry.
In addition to his work in Germany, Oliver has developed agrivoltaic projects in France, Luxembourg, Hungary, Namibia, and Brazil. In 2024, he became Co-Head of the Group Agrivoltaics at Fraunhofer ISE with focus of business development, product development and networking. He also serves as a founder, CPO at diveo GmbH, a Fraunhofer ISE spin-off, where he contributes to the development of agrivoltaic projects.
